Objectives

At secondary level, students need to acquire language skills for academic purposes to support them in learning non-language subjects through English. The school-based curriculum of Language across the Curriculum (LAC) was devised to equip students with the language skills to cope with cross-curricular texts and classes. In LAC lessons, students will be familiarised with: 

• vocabulary skills, 

• reading strategies, 

• features of academic texts, 

• strategies to deconstruct academic texts and organise information from the texts,  and

• effective oral and written communication skills.
