Seminar on Caring for Hong Kong's Stray Cats

2023-11-06 Nov, 2023

On 6th November, our school hosted an informative seminar on caring for Hong Kong's stray cats in the school library.

Volunteer Ms. Ho from Cat Society Hong Kong spoke to 20 students, 4 parents, and 1 teacher. The seminar was part of the library's initiative focused on promoting books related to cats.

Ms. Ho offered insightful details about her Society and the challenges faced by stray cats across the territory.

She then explained the various ways in which one could help stray cats, such as through donations, adoption or volunteering. Additionally, Ms. Ho emphasized the importance of treating all animals compassionately and respectfully.

An engaging hands-on activity followed where participants carefully petted two of the Society's rescue cats. Ms. Ho guided the interactions to build the cat's trust slowly through scent recognition before physical contact. Other interactive segments saw her discuss identifying cat breeds and the responsibilities of cat ownership.

By shedding light on the stray cat situation and how to make a difference, the seminar empowered participants to become advocates for change. It was an enlightening experience for student, parent and teacher attendees alike.
