Today, our school dived into the new school year’s first English Speaking Wednesday, which is themed on the symbol ‘Plus’. It represents the spirit to embrace infinite possibilities when learning English outside the classroom with the eagerness to always improve, grow and advance. 

This is perfectly embodied by the vibrant team of English Ambassadors, who are pioneers on campus to promote the interactive use of the language. The entire day was dedicated to speaking English, from the morning greeting, polling and busking to the dynamic booths held during lunchtime: the ‘Chat CDG’.

Students were also fondly introduced to the new mascots of ESW - Plushie and Wendy - and were invited to submit creative backstories about the two fun-loving characters. 

Additionally, Mr Kelvin Cheung, our Native-speaking English teacher, encouraged everybody to step out of their comfort zone and appreciate the beautiful world of English by immersing themselves in the English+, the uplifting space on 2/F.

This is a lot more to look forward to this year with the variety of activities ahead, namely Speakers’ Corners, Book Sharing, and the games and campaigns jointly organised with the English Guild. Carmelians will surely develop a keen interest in English with a global outlook and a positive mindset.
